The Law of Love

Herein we continue to look at Scriptures that give evidence for and explain the keeping of the Laws of YHWH.

II TIMOTHY 3:16-17  All (Old Testament) Scripture is given by inspiration of YHWH, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of YHWH may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Paul wrote this letter to Timothy before the New Testament was written, compiled, or published, so he could only have meant the Old Testament.

HEBREWS 10:28-29 (Book of Yahweh)  Those who rejected the Law given through Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished, who has trampled the Son of Yahweh underfoot, and has counted the blood of the covenant (with which he was sanctified) an unholy thing…

HEBREWS 13:20-21  Now the Father of peace…through the blood of…covenant (Yahshua’s blood), Make you perfect in every good work to do His (Father’s) will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in His sight, through Yahshua Messiah.

We know from these and previously presented Scriptures in this series of posts and blog that Paul was a Law-keeper. Look at more of his writings or what others wrote about him that give indisputable proof of his and other Jewish converts’ adherence to the Law:

ACTS 21:20-24  (One of the Yerushalem elders is speaking to Paul) Thou seest, Brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the Law: And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest all the Jews that are among the Gentiles to forsake (the Law given through) Moses, saying that they ought not to circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs. What is it therefore? (What then is to be done? BoY). Do therefore this that we say to thee:We have four men which have a (Nazirite) vow on them; Them take, and purify thyself with them…and all may know that those things, whereof they were informed concerning thee (forsaking the Law), are nothing; but that thou thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the Law.

ACTS 22:12  And one Ananias, a devout man according to the Law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there (in Damascus).

ACTS 23:1  And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before YHWH until this day.

ACTS 25:8  While he answered for himself, Neither against the Laws of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Cesar, have I offended anything at all.

ROMANS 2:13  For not the hearers of the Law are just before YHWH, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

ROMANS 2:23-244  Thou that makest thy boast of the Law, through breaking the Law dishonoureth thou Father? For the name of YHWH is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written (IS. 52:5).

Paul points out here that the Gentles don’t keep YHWH’s Law because the Jews themselves fail to be an example of righteousness to the nations:

EZEKIEL 36:22  Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith Father YHWH; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for Mine holy name’s sake, which ye have profaned among the brethren, whither ye went.

Now Paul reiterates what Yahshua said of the two greatest commandments, DEUTERONOMY 6:5-6:  …And thou shalt love YHWH thy Father with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart. And LEVITICUS 19:18  Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am YHWH; when he writes in ROMANS 13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the Law. And ROMANS 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the Law.

On these two Laws, quoted by Yahshua in MATTHEW 22:36-40 as the greatest and second greatest commandments, hang or depend all the Law and the Prophets. And that is why those 613 Laws of the Torah are called YHWH’s Law of love!
