As Christians we should always be healed and healthy. Let’s have a look at why this is seldom so.
Redemption means to buy back something that once belonged to the buyer but was lost to them. Like the mutual transaction in a pawn shop. As we know, by His death on the cross, Yahshua Messiah redeemed or made full payment of the legal price required by YHWH for the sins of mankind.
Since the time of the fall of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, mankind has been enslaved in sin, possessed of a fallen nature, and destined to suffer eternal damnation. Yahshua’s suffering on the stake and in Hell paid the necessary ransom price for us all.
Our Heavenly Father planned a vastly superior life for us in an earthly paradise than the one we live today and believe to be normal. If we recognize what was lost to us at the Fall, we can understand what redemption means, what we are redeemed from, and what we are redeemed to. To do so we need only read about Adam and Eve in the Garden.
They were perfect, made with His life and Spirit within them. They worked with their Creator daily, speaking with and enjoying His company. They had the capacity to gain immense knowledge, truth, and wisdom–without even having a computer or the Internet! Sickness, accidents, fear, hunger, and sin were non-existent. Adam and Eve had a unity virtually unknown to married couples today. The list of what they had goes on and on.
Imagine having a perfect body that never grows old, weary, gets sick, or dies. Imagine never having a wicked or even a negative thought. Imagine sleeping nightly beside your wife on a soft cushion of grass with abundant delicious fruit at hand to eat. Imagine watching your children and children’s children grow old but remain young forever.
However, the consequences of our first parents’ sin completely recreated the nature of man. What had never previously entered Adam and Eve’s minds until then became accepted as normal: clouded minds, failing memories, old age, confused thinking, shameful and repulsive deeds. They lost absolutely the ability to reflect on their prior state of perfection. Their unity and dependence on YHWH was not only gone but despised. So too were acts such as prayer and repentance that would rekindle the relationship.
When they ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (it was not the fruit itself but the disobedience to and lack of trust in YHWH), Adam and Eve were, in fact, born again with the nature of Satan. This fallen nature has been passed down within family blood lines for six thousand years. Other personal sins impose additional curses from YHWH. The results of each sin are manifested in the form of a particular disease or negative character trait, hence why many diseases and mental illnesses are hereditary. Examples of this satanic nature are: anger, jealousy, hatred, sexual perversion, obesity, alcoholism, lying, self-righteousness, laziness, fear… Recognize any of your own there? Actually there are pages and pages of them.
At the moment of conception, an unborn child has created in them YHWH’s perfect character. But they also have within what is described as fallow ground–a field of rich, fertile soil already ploughed ready to be planted with a crop: Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek YHWH, till He come and rain righteousness upon you (HOS. 10:12). These hearts are hardened from lack of Heavenly water and being warned to repent.
At first it is up to the parents what is planted in the fallow ground of the heart of a child. If they are practising sin at the time of conceiving, the unborn baby may well have demons placed within. The same applies when there are unbroken ancestral curses. At any time the child is carried in the womb, during birth or childhood until the age of consent at 20, or afterwards if the child sins as an adult, he or she can be possessed by demons. These evil entities will manifest in many ways: deformities, diseases, mental illnesses, or the aforementioned negative character traits. Each of the seeds planted entwine about the person’s soul to become a bondage.
Without exception, each of us are in bondage to some combination of these forces to to a greater or lesser degree. Ever heard the expression he or she has his or her own personal demons? The level of bondage depends on the cleanness of the parents and their ancestral line at conception and onwards. The demonic forces control our fallen nature. They must be eradicated from our souls. There can be no freedom from the influence of ancestral curses and demonic roots until they are legally cut and severed.
At the time of our initial committment to follow Yahshua as our Saviour and King, we are redeemed from original sin from Adam and any personal sins we may have committed. We are set free from all associated bondages and punishments, including the need to suffer the cleansing fires of Hell. Read that again: AT CONVERSION ALL OUR PRIOR SINS ARE REMITTED OR WIPED AWAY. (Future sins, however, must be repented of.) Yahshua took ALL of our sins upon Himself on the cross, from where the enormous weight of them pressed Him down to the pit of Hell, to suffer there the penalty of them in our stead. But Hell could not keep Him, such was His moral cleanliness: For Thou wilt not leave My soul in hell; neither wilt Thou suffer Thine Holy One to see corruption (PSA. 16:10).
We are therefore REDEEMED from having to suffer the fires of Hell. We are also REDEEMED from the curse of the Law by Yahshua’s being nailed to a tree and becoming the curse for us. This was the legal price to be paid for transgressing the Law: …Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the Law to do them. Messiah hath REDEEMED us from the curse of the Law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree (GAL. 3:10, 13). The actual curse is written in DEUTERONOMY 27:26, 21:22-23. We can see the impossibility of any one of us keeping every single Law of YHWH for our entire lives. If we did, we wouldn’t need Yahshua’s sacrifice. For any that do not know, YHWH’s 613 Laws are in the first five books of the Old Testament: GENESIS, EXODUS, LEVITICUS, NUMBERS, and DEUTERONOMY. Some Laws, such as the sacrifice of animals and the Levitical priesthood, have been made obsolete by Yahshua and HIS sacrifice.
We are REDEEMED from grief, sorrows, and sickness. This is an aspect of redemption that sets us apart from non-believers and carnal Christians. Yahshua accepted in our place the lashes that flayed His flesh to the bone and rendered Him unrecognizable: Surely He hath borne our griefs (weaknesses NLT), and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken (we thought His troubles were a punishment…for His own sins NLT), smitten of YHWH, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace (pierced, crushed, beaten, whipped for our sins, so we could be whole and healed) was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed (IS.53:4-5). Also I PETER 2:24.
I urge you to accept the incredible fullness of what Yahshua has done for you here, through faith in His Word, His promises. Take the time to understand from what you are redeemed. Overcome your dependence upon your carnal senses and your other ‘gods’. At times it will be necessary to simply ignore symptoms of illnesses and put your trust in YHWH’s Word that you are HEALED. Past tense. You are FORGIVEN. Past tense. It is finished (JOHN 19:30).
Accepting the priceless gift of Yahshua is one of the greatest acts of worship we can offer our Almighty Saviour King. And you thought singing songs in church was high praise to Him. Living a life such as this is living a life of worship. It is worshipping our Father in spirit and in truth.
YHWH is like an insurance policy. He covers our every need. But neglect not to pay your premiums: faith in His every word and obedience to His will. If we do so we may forsake reliance on worldly insurance just as I have for nineteen years.
There will be some who are not healed despite genuine faith. And others who erroneously use three excuses from Scripture why they are not healed. I’ll deal with these points and others in the next few posts.
