What will be the sign of the end of the world (age)?
Yahshua starts answering this question number three at MATTHEW 24:29, MARK 13:24, and back in LUKE 21:25. ‘Immediately after the tribulation of those days…’ He begins. IN MARK: ‘But in those days, after that tribulation…’ What tribulation? The only tribulation He has expounded upon is that of Yerushalem in AD 70. Yet we know the sun was not darkened, nor heavens shaken then. We know too that the distress of nations (LUKE 21:25) has not happened yet. But we also know from question two that there is a connection between what’s coming upon us, and what happened in AD 70. And it too is called a tribulation. But this tribulation is that of those days – another era. It could only be for a future time, for Yahshua is foretelling the events of His next coming in connection with a future tribulation upon Yerushalem.
To paraphrase: Immediately after the tribulation upon Yerushalem in our days or lifetime (now reading MATTHEW 24:29) Shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. (Now LUKE 21:25-26) And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear; and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. (Finally REVELATION 6:12-17) And I beheld when He had opened the sixth seal, and lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth… And the heaven departed as a scrole (scroll) when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places. And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and the rocks of the mountains; And said…Fall on us, and hide us from…Him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of His wrath is come; and who is able to stand?
Here a connection is made with the Great Tribulation of REVELATION, also known by New Agers as the polar shift. I wrote a detailed account of this polar shift in my book In Spirit and in Truth on 10 August 2009. Six weeks later on 21 September, I went with my husband to see an Australian movie called Charlie and Boots. At this movie I saw for the first time the trailer advertising the then upcoming movie 2012. Anyone who saw 2012 knows it is about a Mayan prophecy about the end of the world. I went on to see it three times. I wanted to get it into my brain what it would be like at that time. The absolute horror of it. Mayan prophecy or not, to me it is YHWH warning His people and the world. It is the year 2012 now, but like the Y2K virus, I don’t believe it will happen this year. I hope not! I’m not ready! I haven’t got all of this warning out yet!
Immediately after the tribulation of Yerushalem, therefore, shall be the Great Tribulation involving the whole planet. During this singular event, shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven (MATT. 24:30). Whether we see Him bodily or only His sign is not clear. MARK 13:26 and LUKE 21:27 state they will see Him coming with great power and glory. REVELATION 1:7 proclaims: Behold, He cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see Him, and they also which pierced Him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of Him.
Personally, I do not believe all mankind will see Yahshua sailing down as a man. All Earth will see some sort of glorious, awe-inspiring sign to prove His coming. But His physical approach will be veiled with clouds, something akin to PSALM 18:7-15: Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of the hills moved and were shaken, because He was wroth… He…came down; and darkness was under His feet… He made darkness His secret place…round about Him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies…hailstones and coals of fire. The (Messiah) also thundered in the heavens…
There is little doubt the above PSALM narrates the story of the gathering of the Elect out of the Great Tribulation at Yahshua’s next coming: The sorrows of death compassed me… The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me. In my distress I called upon YHWH… He sent from above. He took me, He drew me out of many waters…He delivered me…according to the cleanness of my hands He recompensed me. For I have kept the ways of YHWH… (PSALM 18:4-6, 16-22). The denominational Church today teaches us all of Christendom will be raptured off the earth before these tribulations. This is un-Scriptural. It also fails to warn others about this shaking, heaving earth.
The earth has been shaken, erupting volcanoes have sent so much ash and dust into the air the sun is darkened. How could anyone see Yahshua coming through that even if they were looking out from the rocks wherein they are hiding? But sheet lightning would be seen by all. Only as He descends beneath the clouds to come near His people to rescue them will His glory be seen (PSA. 18:12). The hail-stones and coals of fire are meteorites and volcanic debris in the skies.
Because the blast of trumpets heralds the coming of a king, the sound of one of the seven trumpets in REVELATION 8 must coincide with the gathering of the Elect. Thus we come to MATTHEW 24:31, MARK 13:27, and LUKE 21:28 where the angels are sent to gather these from the four winds with a great sound of a trumpet. The four winds are angels or spirits of judgments (YER. 49:36, DAN. 7:2, ZEC. 6:5). It is more accurate to say the Elect are gathered out of the four winds which would otherwise destroy them along with the earth.
Following this Yahshua shares the parable of the fig tree, to which we must of necessity also soon come. Then of that day and hour knoweth…My Father only. It is quite apparent from our coming King’s picture relating to Noah, despite these detailed and amazing revelations, the earth and Church will be taken completely unawares: …until the day that Noe entered the ark, and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be (MATT. 24:39).
We, however, are not in the dark as those about whom He speaks. Watch therefore–take ye heed…for ye know not when the time is–lest coming suddenly He find you sleeping…pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man (MATT.24:42, MARK 13:33, 36; LUKE 21:36).
Watching does not means staying physically awake twenty-four hours a day! It is a spiritual preparedness Yahshua describes: being separated from the cares of this life; being righteous according to the Law, perhaps remaining single rather than marrying; like the holy priesthood were so commanded, it’s abstaining from drinking and all activities that quench the Spirit of YHWH within (LUKE 21:34); it’s being different to the people of the world; it is being a wise virgin seeking YHWH’s will for you, keeping to that Way, and not wickedly departing from it (PSA. 18:21).
Two more pressing questions may be raised by this post. The first is: how long between the destruction of Yerushalem, and the Great Tribulation? The Bible says immediately after… My theory, based partly on what I was taught by Peter (see Count It All Joy and Fiery Trial Number Two: How to Conquer Fear), and on Scripture itself, is seven weeks or fifty days, the time between Passover and Pentecost or Firstfruits. The Elect are, I believe, the firstfruits. Then the period of the Great Tribulation is ten days, like the ten days from the Feast of Trumpets until Yom Kippur or the Day of Atonement, ten being the number of judgment. It is the fulfilment of that great Day (of Atonement).
And finally, why is YHWH so angry that He does this to the earth and her people? If we go back to What Shall Be the Sign of Thy Coming? we see the Jews are to proclaim themselves a messiah who is NOT Yahshua. After all He went through and has done for them, to be passed over in favour of one of those false messiahs about which He so often warned, we can understand why He would be as mad as a hornet.
